US Open qualifying missed by two strokes (6-6-2005)

Today we played the 36-holes US Open qualifying at Walton Heath. There were 56 players for 9 spots. In the morning round I shot a level par 72 at the new course. I played good golf but never got it going with the putter. After one hours rest we had to go out for the second eighteen. I had to produce a good score to have a chance. Again I played good golf but struggled with the putter. The eagle on thirteen changed all that. The last six holes I came back in 4 under to finish on a total of 141 (72,69).

In the end I missed by two shots. Unfortunate but not completely dissatisfied. I played good golf but the putter didn't work that well. And it is not uncommon to have a few days like that in a year.

Tomorrow I will travel back to Holland to participate in a junior cliniqe and a shoot out for the KLM Open. Wednesday I play the pro am and thursday the Dutch Open starts.
